The Casino Etiquette for Craps Players
Every game in the casino has its own set of casino etiquette and rules. Craps is not exempted from this. Craps game has a set of rules and etiquette that must be followed for the enjoyment of everyone at the table.
Each player at the craps table has the chance to become a shooter. And as a shooter, it is expected that certain rules will be followed with regards to the handling of dice. Only one hand of the shooter is allowed to handle the dice, that cheating and dice replacement will not happen.
Toying with the dice by passing them from one hand to the other hand is against the rules. Taking the dice beyond the table's edge is not allowed. If you want to change hand and this is permitted, the dice must first be put on the table before the other hand gets them.
Being the shooter in the game of craps, you have the biggest responsibility with regards to the outcome of the game compared to other players at the table. If you do not like to be the shooter and it's your turn to do so, it is all right to decline and you will not be embarrassed as long as you do it in a polite way.
The shooter is expected to throw the dice instead of sliding them on the table. The farthest wall of the craps table must be hit for the throw to be valid. Throwing the dice above the eye level of the dealer is not allowed. When you throw the dice, throw them in the direction that when they land, they will not hit the chips on the bank of the boxman or the money of the dealer.
Setting the craps dice is not allowed in some casinos. When you are in casinos that allow it, set the dice using only your one hand. And please do it in a fast way that the game will not be delayed because of you.
The dealers of craps are not allowed to touch any of the players at the table. Therefore, do not hand over your money to the dealer or expect the dealer to hand over your chips to you. If you want to exchange money for chips, simply place your money on the table's layout and say "change only". You can also say to the dealer the amount and the bet, and the dealer will be the one who will place the money on the correct betting area.
These are just simple but important casino etiquette and rules that must be followed correctly by all craps players. You would certainly do well with this game if you know these rules and follow them.
